On behalf of Kennedy-King College, I welcome you to the Self-Study Initiative Web Site.

Although the college has been engaged in self-study related activities since spring 2003, we are now intensifying our efforts and expanding participation from members of the college faculty, administration, staff, students, and community stakeholders. The KKC Self-Study Web Site will serve as the primary organizational tool for implementing the initiative.

Key objectives of the initiative include:
(1) Preparing the entire college community to maintain its accreditation status under the guidelines set by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (NCA).
(2) Ensuring that policies and procedures that support student learning, financial operations, and student services are systematically and continuously improving.

The theme of the college’s self-study initiative is “KKC: Enhancing Systems for Achieving Continuous Quality Improvement.” We believe upgrading our current systems will increase the quality in all programs and services, and create a better environment for our students, staff, and faculty. Thus, as a result of the initiative, the college will be in a better position to ensure that its culture wholly supports a strong commitment to excellence.

KKC is streamlining internal planning processes to improve efficiency of operations and services. Several departments have developed exemplary models for strategic planning, evaluation, and assessment. Special efforts are in execution to increase direct connectivity of all programs and services to the college's mission and vision. During the course of this initiative information will be provided for your review which will describe the lessons learned from these efforts.

Finally, we will use this web site periodically to solicit public comment regarding the college’s progress on the self-study. We believe in strong community engagement. Your insight is highly regarded. I am certain that your feedback will help the college achieve the best self-study initiative possible.

In closing, I cannot stress enough the importance of the participation of our entire college community and stakeholders in our community service area. I thank you for your support and look forward to working with you. Together we will lay a solid foundation to positively impact the KKC community for the next decade.

Clyde El-Amin
