Kennedy-King College is named after Robert Kennedy and Martin L. King, Jr. The accomplishments of these two leaders changed America and how it views education, politics, civil rights, and world-wide humanitarianism. Martin L. King, Jr. once said, “I have a dream.” Robert Kennedy once said, “Only those who dare to fail greatly can achieve greatly.” From the days of Wilson Junior College to today’s Kennedy King, our idea is to dare to dream to become one of the greatest institutions of higher learning in the country.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Kennedy-King Alumni Association is dedicated to the development of positive relationships between Kennedy-King College, the faculty, current students, alumni, and the community at large. We seek to accomplish this through…

Mentoring-Both current students and alumni to successfully compete in the workforce or to achieve higher educational goals.

Missions-To provide and contribute our resources which include our time, financial and life experiences in order to enhance our alumni and student life at King-King College and beyond.

Motivation-To encourage and support all aspects of the Kennedy King College vision, mission, and programs.

Dempsy Travis - Developer
Dempsey J. Travis is an entrepreneur and a historian. His business skills have allowed him to become a self-made multi-millionaire. He is the president of Travis Realty Company®.  This thriving business has been listed among the Largest 100 Black Businesses in America by Black Enterprise Magazine. Mr. Travis was also listed for seven years in Ebony Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential Black Americans. Furthermore, he was deemed Black Businessman of the Year by Dollar and Sense Magazine. Welton Murphy

Welton T. Murphy - KKC Dir. Of Admissions
Welton Murphy Jr. grew up in the Englewood community. He attended public school and graduated from Parker High School (Robeson).  He served four years in the United States Air Force where he obtained the rank of sergeant before his honorable discharge.  He worked at Kennedy-King College in 1975 in the Registrar’s Office with a program known then as CETA run by the Mayor’s Office. He worked full time and attended Kennedy-King full time, majoring in Liberal Arts. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society and is currently a national alum. He graduated with honors from Kennedy-King College in 1977.

MARV DYSON - Broadcasting Executive
Marv Dyson is an alumnus of Kennedy King College and one of the most respected names in broadcasting. He literally shaped the voice of urban radio in Chicago—a voice that was later imitated, but not duplicated, in other cities across the country.  Dyson has worked for such media giants as: Atlas Communications, Johnson Publishing Company, Gannett Inc., Chancellor Media, Evergreen Media, AMFM Radio Inc., and most recently Clear Channel Radio, the world's largest media company.
