The career programs of the City Colleges of Chicago are open
admission programs. Everyone is welcome. Individuals who are admitted
to career programs must achieve an acceptable score on two designated
tests.
In some cases three tests are required. Transfer trainees who
have earned a grade of C or better in English or Math courses are
exempt if they provide official transcripts of these courses.

least four to eight weeks before the program start date. Prospective

Assessment & Placement
All new trainees are required to take Reading and Math placement
tests. Placement will be determined by performance. Admission to the
Institute does not ensure entrance into a particular course or program
of study. Results from the placement test and departmental interview
will determine enrollment into a career program.
Transfer trainees may obtain a waiver from the Math and Reading tests
if they have received a grade of C or better in a College level
English or Math course or have already earned an associate degree or
higher. Trainees requesting a waiver from testing must provide an
official college transcript to the Registrar's office.
Former/Transfer Trainees
Former trainees in good standing who withdrew from the program
for personal reasons and wish to reenroll must petition for
reenrollment, with the training program's department supervisor or
designee.
Trainees transferring to the Chicago City Colleges are required
to submit official college transcripts of all credits earned at other
institutions. Successfully completed course work, with a grade of C or
better, from accredited institutions will be evaluated. If accepted as
satisfying certificate requirements, these transfer hours will be
counted towards graduation and certificate completion.
International Student Admission
The Chicago City Colleges has adopted the Test of English as a Foreign
Language (TOEFL) as an admission requirement for prospective
international students. All prospective international students, whose
native language is not English, applying for admission to the CCC are
required to take the test of English as a Foreign Language and submit
(TOEFL) test scores as a requirement of the application process.
As part of the registration process, all international students
must also undergo assessment of their academic skills according to the
student assessment policies established by the Chicago City Colleges.
Standardized placement criteria used for native students also apply to
international trainees. (See additional information in the CCC Student
Policy Manual)
