The Associate in Science Degree prepares the individual for transfer to a four-year college or university. Several four-year colleges and universities in Illinois have entered into articulation agreements with Kennedy-King College, which guarantees Junior-level status for the transfer student who has an Associate in Science Degree. Your College Advisor has detailed information relevant to these articulation agreements.
Emphasis in the Associate in Science Degree program is placed upon the Science and Mathematics related fields, such as Biology, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics. The program requires the successful completion, with a minimum of an overall C (2.00) grade point average, of a minimum of 64 semester hours.
Thirty-seven (37) to forty-one (41) of the required minimum 64 semester hours must be distributed among the five General Education areas of Communications, Humanities, Social Science, Mathematics, and Science.
Students who plan to transfer to a four-year college may elect to earn an A.S. Degree without a specific major area of concentration of study, but must meet minimum degree requirements. All students are urged to consult a Kennedy-King College Transfer Center Advisor, College Advisor, or their Faculty Advisor.
