LIBRARY COLLECTIONS AND BORROWING
Reference
Kennedy-King College Library has a large
collection to help answer
factual questions on the spot. Reference books include encyclopedias,
dictionaries, statistics, atlases, and critical and informational
resources in many subjects. The librarian on duty at the Reference Desk
is available to help you find the appropriate reference book to help
answer your question(s). The Library also has online, or electronic,
reference sources which the librarian can point out.
Circulation Services
Circulating books (indicated by "Stacks" in the
Online Catalog) may be
checked out by the staff at the Circulation Desk by presenting a current student ID.
You may check out four books at once. The loan period is two weeks;
books may be renewed before the due date, one time for an additional
two weeks.
When the Library is open, books can be returned to staff at the Circulation
Desk.
Reserve Materials
Reserve Materials (indicated by "Reserve" in the
Online Catalog) may be
requested at the Circulation Desk and checked out for two hours, three
days, or seven days. Professors may place books on Reserve for their
classes, or Librarians place heavily used books on Reserve.
Renewing
Renewing books and materials can be renewed in
person or by phone.
Books and materials can be renewed one time if renewed before the date
due. Call the Circulation Desk at
(773) 602-5449 to renew by phone, and have your student ID ready.
Photocopy Machines
There are two
public photocopy machines available. The charge is 15 cents per page.
Copy cards are available to all current students. By adding money to
the copy card, the charge per page drops to 10 cents.
Library Fines
Circulating Fines
Overdue fines for each circulating book are 25
cents per day. Once a fine reaches $20.00, the charge is placed on your
student account by the Bursar's Office and must be paid there.
Lost book fee: $45.00 and $5.00 handling fee.
Reserve Fines
Overdue fines for each two-hour reserve book is
$1.00 per hour. Each three-day reserve book is charged a $2.00 per day
overdue fine. Each seven-day reserve book is charged a $1.00
Once a book is overdue for 30 days, the charge is placed on your
student account by the Bursar's Office and must be paid there
The lost book fee is $45.00 and $5.00 for handling.
