Kennedy-King College is pleased to announce the opening of the Parrot Cage Restaurant. The Parrot Cage is a creation and operation of the highly acclaimed Washburne Culinary Institute. Both operations are located in the South Shore Cultural Center -- a Chicago Landmark and architectural treasure restored to preserve the original details of many areas, such as its lavishly ornamented and finely detailed first floor interior.
The restaurant, which is located at 7059 S. South Shore Drive, is open every Wednesday through Saturday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. According to Washburne Provost Bill Reynolds, the Parrot Cage will provide Chicago's south side with a true gourmet restaurant featuring a variety of culinary delights at affordable prices.
If you're not familiar with the Washburne Culinary Institute, it's one of the best and oldest cooking schools in the country. To showcase its student's skills, it hosts Chicago's annual Culinary and Hospitality Showcase Dinner, which Mayor Daley and other dignitaries regularly attend.
